"Washington, DC, is our nation's capital. We are close enough to the city for day trips in and far enough away that we can be in a kayak within 30 minutes. We offer day trips to Shenandoah National Park, Colonial Williamsburg, Smithsonian Institution (museums and zoo), Mount Vernon (home of George Washington, our first President), the U.S. Capitol building, and Kings Dominion (theme park). All activities are subject to availability.
We may take you places, recommend Uber or local car rental. For many of our tours, public transportation and parking are the primary costs. We will choose the most economical travel option available; however, guests will be responsible for parking fees and their own metro transportation costs. We can arrange plans in advance to make sure we meet your expectations.
MEALS
Breakfast will likely be eaten separately as we are early risers - weekends can be different. The main meal will typically be eaten together with family and friends. Please let us know about any dietary preferences or requirements and we will let you know, in advance, if we can accommodate. There are numerous restaurants for almost every taste in our diverse area if you would like to dine out. Guests must purchase their meals at restaurants and snacks while away from home. Meals and snacks included in the board price are only those offered when we are at home.
HOUSE RULES
All guests are expected to clean after themselves and keep the home clean. We are aware that the age requirements for drinking and smoking vary by country. Please note the drinking age in the United States is 21. As we are non-smokers, we cannot allow smoking in our home. If you are 21 and over, we may likely offer wine with dinner.
GENERAL INFORMATION
We have medium-sized dogs that live in the house and hop on the furniture. We offer free WiFi. I am Beth and work at home. My husband Chris works outside the home. Our children are adults and Tiffany, our 22-year-old, is the only one still living at home. The others would likely only visit during the day.
We want you to take part in our family as much as you feel comfortable. We love taking people places and sharing our area. We are Christian, usually say grace when we eat, and are open to learning about all people, faiths, and nationalities.
Welcome to our home!
