More about Spain

Settlers first arrived in this South West European country 35,000 years ago, from which it developed into the centre of a huge colonial empire. Modern day Spaniards are famed for their high-spirited attitude to life, raucous fiesta celebrations and passionate obsession with fine food and wine. Expanding from the cultured central capital of Madrid, Spain has many modern and vibrant cities. Explore the historical layers of the home of the Flamenco, sun drenched Saville, indulge in the divine tapas culture in charmingly picturesque San Sebastian and enjoy the otherworldly architecture in exuberant Barcelona.

Step back in time through the many historic masterpieces dotted around Spain, such as The Alhambra, an enchanting palace complex dating back to 1238. A mountainous country, timeless beautiful villages perch on hilltops, cluster in valleys and cling to secluded coastal coves. The northern Pyrenees and Picos de Europa mountains stretched over the North of the country provide an excellent hiking landscape.
