"We are an Irish Family living on a farm that looks out to The Atlantic sea.
We take student's for 3-8 weeks during school holidays (June, July & August). We also host student for Academic School year placement- August-December 2018. We will arrange School uniforms, Schools books, and Bus Transport (Transport & School books are an additional cost).
l am a part time student (Studying History & English Degree through Distance Learning from the local University. I hope to become a teacher) My husband is a full time Sheep Farmer. He loves animals especially Sheep. We are always at home be it working or studying.
On the farm we have Sheep, Dog's, Ponies and Hens.
Our Daughter is 14 years old. She loves animals, Football, Gaelic, Singing and music. She goes Horse riding 1 day a week and helps out at the stables. She plays Piano, Tin Whistle and Button Accordion. She play's under fourteen for the local GAA Club. She loves singing and goes to singing Lesson's each week. She is very outgoing and goes to her local Foroige. It is a club for young teenagers. The clubs helps them improve their social and organisation skills.
Our son is 13. He is mad into Football. He plays Gaelic Football on Friday nights in the winter on the local astro turf pitch. He plays for the under 13's Gaelic for his local club. He goes swimming lesson's on Thursdays at the local swimming pool. He loves reading Harry Potter, Diaries of a Wimpy and many more. He love's playing on his Platstation 4 and watching Television.
Our experience hosting children has been wonderful. We understand that there can be a cultural difference. When a student arrives our goal is to make them feel like one of the family. We understand what is like for the parent 's of the exchanged child. Our daughter has done an exchange to France. She had a good experience but found the lanuage and culture diffcult at times. When students come to live with us our gaol is they enjoy themselves and leave wanting to come back. We understand that they will miss their family, friends, home and their community. Our Goal is the student enjoys learning english and they have fun. We hope they enjoy living on a farm. We would like them to go back to their parents independent, Confident and happy in English. This is what We would want for my own children."
