"I live in a suburb of London, with my husband and two sons (aged 20 & 17). My husband, an Information Specialist and I are experienced hosts and have welcomed guests from France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Hong Kong, China, Singapore and USA, to name a few!
I’m a qualified TEFL teacher, I have a first degree in American Studies and a postgraduate qualification in Library Science. My teaching experience includes tutoring English at Primary and Secondary levels, Trinity exams, Cambridge Business Vantage and also History at A’ Level. I have worked in libraries and research institutes in London and lived in Wales, America and Scotland. My hobbies include history, theatre, cinema and yoga. I enjoy cooking and cater for all types of diets and involve students with cooking and baking if they are interested.
Our home has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a garden. The student bedroom has twin beds and has its own shower room. We have fast wifi reception, cable tv with movie channels. I can cater for all types of diets, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free etc.
We also have a small dog and a cat. There is no smoking in the house.
We are 5 minutes from the nearest shops, petrol station and cashpoint, chemist, grocery shop, takeaway and Italian deli
10 minutes walk to the nearest train station with trains to Central London.
15 minutes walk into the small town which has supermarkets, banks, restaurants & cafes, library and train station with fast trains into London (50 minutes) and Brighton (50 minutes)
30 minutes drive from Gatwick
50 minutes drive to Brighton
Our local area is known for its beautiful lavender fields just 10 minutes away. There are a number of good country pubs within 10 minutes of the house. Our home is on the edge of beautiful countryside, with woodland walks just up the road.
Walking, swimming, tenpin bowling, golf, squash, gym, visiting historic houses and the cinema can be arranged locally, some with an extra cost.
