"We are a German-Spanish family living in a small village in the countryside of the Costa Brava, about 20 min. from the provincial capital Girona and 20 min. to the nearest beaches. „We“ that are our son Lucas (almost 14), our daughter Carlotta (almost 12), Sandra and Mauri.
Lucas would like to spend two weeks with an English speaking family this summer and in return we would like to host an exchange student for two weeks (July or August). Our children are trilingual. In our family we speak Spanish, German and Catalan, but we would only speak German or Spanish with your child, depending on your preferences.
Lucas has a very friendly and open manner. In a new environment he may be a little shy at first, but he adapts very quickly. He is very sporty (football, bike, climbing, kung fu, skiing, hiking, swimming) and very much enjoys the outdoors. He plays guitar and likes to listen to music.
Lucas is used to travelling a lot, but he has never travelled on his own before. He has been learning English at school for 8 years. He can communicate in everyday situations, but still makes mistakes. We are convinced that the stay with an English-speaking family is a great opportunity to help him to get to know a new culture and to use the language outside of school life.
The exchange student who would come to stay with us would get to know the surroundings of where we live as well as Girona and Barcelona as cities with a great cultural offer. We could spend the afternoons on the beaches of the Costa Brava and do some kayaking or stand-up-paddling. We could go hiking in the Pyrenees, cook together, play board games etc."
