What are the regulations and rules for hosting children?

It is very important that, before hosting children in your home, you make yourself aware of any regulations in your country for providing accommodation to children under the age of 18. In the UK, having a current ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ or ‘DBS’ check is preferable.

British families hosting a language homestay (exchange or paid stay) for a child under 16 years of age (under 18 years of age for children with a disability) for more than 28 days have a legal responsibility to inform their local authority.
