Booking process

How does the booking process work for Host Families and Host Teachers?

Accepting bookings through Lingoo is easy. When a potential Guest contacts you, simply review their profile and if you like what you see, you can begin discussing the details of the homestay and investing time in getting to know each other. If both parties are happy, the Guest begins the booking process.

You and your Guest will then complete a Paid Stay Language Contract online. This secures the reservation, provides security for both parties, and communicates the price for all services you will provide.

When both parties have signed the contract, the Guest pays Lingoo for the stay, together with a booking voucher and any applicable charges from Lingoo. The booking voucher is calculated as 15% of accommodation, and language lessons included automatically for Teachers’ stays.

This payment is made in one or two payments, depending on the date of the booking, and the method of payment. The booking is confirmed once the payment has been received by the site.

After your Guest has made the full payment (and in the case of a Free Member has been security checked), both parties get access to a printable PDF version of the completed contract, which lists important information and commitments and includes full contact details.

Hosts are paid by Lingoo through our regulated payment partner Tipalti. They receive 70% of the Guest’s payment on the first day of the stay and the remaining 30% one day after the end of the stay. You can read more about how you will be paid here.

At the end of the stay, your Guest is asked to leave an online evaluation of the homestay. This is an important part of maintaining and improving the quality of services to the Lingoo community.
