About Lingoo
Lingoo is a language exchange and homestay club for children, teenagers, adults, and family groups. Our online community connects guests with native speakers worldwide for authentic language and cultural immersion stays.
We are not an agency but a contact platform between families. As a Lingoo Host — Family or Teacher — you set your own prices and decide what activities to offer. You choose when to host and are free to accept or decline any guest after reviewing their profile and communicating with them.
This system ensures fair payment for Hosts, affordable stays for Guests, and direct contact between both parties before each stay.
Being a Host on Lingoo
Hosting on Lingoo is a home-based activity similar to managing your own small business.
With a Host Family or Host Teacher Membership, you can publish your profile and be contacted directly by Guest Members (Parents, Adults, or Groups). You decide whether to host adults, children, or both.
Host Family Members provide meals and accommodation and welcome guests into their daily family life, helping them learn your language and experience your culture.
Host Teacher Members provide meals, accommodation, and formal or informal language lessons to accelerate language progress.
You must hold a recognised qualification to teach a language (preferably your own) as a foreign or second language, or demonstrate substantial equivalent teaching experience.
If you hold such a qualification, you may register as both Host Teacher and Host Family.
If not, register as Host Family only. You can create multiple profiles. We recommend starting with one profile, then adding others via My Account > Create profile.
This membership is free but subject to validation.
Prices, Commission, and Payments
Lingoo does not set prices. Hosts manage their own rates, which vary according to location, comfort, and activities.

Lingoo applies a 15% commission, paid by the Guest at the time of booking and deducted from the total stay price. To help you set your rates taking this commission into account, an automatic calculator of the Sum after commission is included in the Our prices questionnaire.
The commission is calculated on:

Host Family stays: Half-board (accommodation, language immersion, breakfast, and one main meal) or full-board (accommodation, language immersion, breakfast, and two meals).

Host Teacher stays: Half-board or full-board, and on the mandatory language lessons automatically added to the booking (one per day, excluding arrival and departure days).
Any extra services or activities you offer are commission-free — the income is entirely yours.
Payments are processed through Lingoo. The site collects all amounts due to Hosts directly from Guests.
You receive 70% on the first day of the stay and 30% one day after it ends.
How to Apply

Go to the Join Now page and register.

Confirm your email via the link sent to you.

Log in at www.lingoo.com.

Select your membership and create your profile.

Go to My Account > My Questionnaires.

Complete each questionnaire carefully and upload required photos.

When ready, click Ask for validation.
Tips for Success

Take your time: Complete your application carefully.

Questionnaire Your photos: Upload all required photos. Under Other photos, add extra pictures of your home and surroundings.

Questionnaire Your prices for... Add one-off activities (sports, outings, excursions) — the more you add, the more attractive your profile.

Questionnaire Your credentials: Upload documents that inspire trust — references, testimonials, or qualifications. Host Teachers must provide an official qualification to teach a language as a foreign or second language to non-native speakers.
What Happens Next
A member of our validation team will carefully review your application. The team checks the consistency of your information, the quality of your profile, the relevance of your prices, and the credentials provided. Your identity and address are also verified, and additional information may be requested if necessary. For Host Teachers, all required diplomas and certificates are verified as well.
Once validated, you will be notified and your profile published. You can then expect your first contact from interested Guests.
