About myself
My Language Au Pair project
"I grew up in Mumbai (India) where English was my first language. I graduated from a reputed Indian law school in 2015 and have been working as an investment funds lawyer in a law firm in India since then.
Outside of work, I love watching and playing sports, especially football (soccer). I have been playing football since I was 6 years old and continue playing for local women's clubs in Mumbai. However, I have a passion for teaching and mentoring people, therefore I also participate in mentoring groups and conduct short lectures for students to guide them with their academics, internships and careers in the legal profession.
Growing up, I have always tried to speak to my grandparents and my maids at home in English to help them read/ write and become more fluent in spoken English. I was on a student exchange program in Georgetown University (Washington DC - USA) in 2013, when I met students and people from all around the world. That is when I realised that I was privileged to have studied with English as my first language, as many other students struggled with framing sentences and replies in class. Even today, when I interact with my clients from different parts of the world, I realise that the difference in cultures and the approach to education often results in lack of fluency in English for people in various parts of the world.
Growing up in India, I have been exposed to a highly multilingual and multicultural society and I have developed a keen interest in learning about different cultures and practices of different people. My aim with this language project is to help people break the language and pronunciation barriers, and help everyone learn more about each others' lives and culture. This language project also helps me achieve my goal of connecting with people around the world, and learn from their culture, stories and experiences.
I look forward to connecting with you all!"
